SPECTATOR FREE RACING TO BEGIN JUNE 5TH AT GRAND RIVER RACEWAY
Grand River Raceway formally announces that it will resume racing on June 5th; however, spectators will be watching online from the comfort and safety of their homes.
In light of the recent framework announced by the Ontario government guiding the gradual opening of businesses and non-essential services, racetracks in Ontario will have the ability to reopen in coming weeks. Racing will resume without spectators and with physical distancing measures in place for everyone at the track.
“As excited as we are to race, the protocols and procedures to keep our team and race participants safe will certainly be the number one priority,” shares Jamie Martin, Director of Operations at Grand River Raceway. “It is certainly unfortunate that we can’t host spectators at this time, however we are committed to provide a great experience through the online platform.”
All of the races scheduled for the up and coming season will be broadcast live and can be found on the Grand River Raceway website, Facebook, and YouTube channel. The organization has invested in additional equipment to ensure viewers at home can watch in both standard and high definition.
Grand River Raceway will be hosting an opportunity to train and qualify at 5pm on June 3rd. Consistent safety protocols will be in place at all times when the track is open. Additional information regarding protocols and detailed updates will be posted on the Grand River Raceway website. All qualifiers and races are subject to AGCO approval and are subject to change.
Grand River Raceway is owned and operated by The Grand River Agricultural Society (GRAS), which, from 2004 through March 2020, has provided funding and Gift-In-Kind support for local initiatives totaling more than $2 million.
