GRAND RIVER RACEWAY SEASON OPENS

Tonight, June 5th, Grand River Raceway kicks off a race season like no other. Post Time is 6.30pm but all the spectators will be watching from the comfort of their homes.

Despite kicking off the season spectator free there will be no shortage of excitement. Live harness racing is featured on most Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights from June 5th through September 25th. Fans can cheer on their top picks, as they watch live from home in HD every race night starting at 6:00 p.m.

Alongside the HD Live stream, off-site spectators can bet online using the HPIBet website or app. By signing up for the free membership users will have 24-hour access to safe and secure online betting, exclusive HPIBet Rewards and real time information on over 500 tracks around the world.

To kick off the start of a great season, this evenings’ feature race is race 1, a pace for non winners of $25,000, for a purse of $8,200. The morning line favourite is Dylans Bank, a 3-year-old making his 10th start of the season. Like most horses on the card, the colt last raced March 19th at Woodbine Mohawk Park, which was the final night of racing in Ontario before all racing was suspended due to the pandemic. The colt is driven by Bruce Richardson of Fergus, trained by John Holding of Kitchener, and owned by Val Spar Stables of West Hill.

Grand River Raceway Programs will continue to provide the top picks as well as the nightly lineup of horses, trainers, and drivers for each race. The free online program will be available for each race night through the GRR website.

Online spectators will still have access to some of our well known Race Night Contests that are now available online. Starting Monday June 8th race enthusiasts can test their skills at picking the nightly winners in the revamped Grand Betting Contest – Online Edition or starting June 10th be the last horse standing in our Survivor Wednesday Contest.
