Our Industry Day Celebration is the hallmark event of the race season. Held annually on Civic Holiday Monday (the first Monday in August) there is a special afternoon race card highlighted by two major races, The Battle of Waterloo presented by Winbak Farm and the Battle of the Belles.

On Aug 1, 2022 you and the whole family can enjoy the horse races for FREE!

Neighbourhood Kids Area will have the following:

  • Face painting
  • Pony rides
  • Petting zoo
  • and more!

Food trucks will be on-site, follow our social media to see which ones will be there closer to Aug 1.

The Back Stretch Berm will be open with available parking, BBQ, and canned alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, along with mutuel booths wagering.

COSA will also be giving the winning horse groom $100 HPI gift cards!

Enter to win 4 Queen’s Plate tickets (at Woodbine Racetrack), $100 in HPI betting cards, and Queen’s Plate swag! A total value of approximately $500. Ballots will be in the Industry Day program and at mutuel booths to fill out. Draw will occur after Race #6.

Industry Day Program

Battle of Waterloo

The Battle Of Waterloo presented by Winbak Farm is Grand River Raceway’s signature race and is showcased during Industry Day by Ontario-sired two-year-old pacing colts. The Battle of Waterloo was raced annually at Elmira Raceway from 1998 through 2003. In 2004, the race debuted at its new home at Grand River Raceway in Elora.

 

Battle of the Belles

The Battle Of The Belles is Grand River Raceway’s companion race to its signature dash, (the Battle Of Waterloo), and is showcased during Industry Day. The Battle Of The Belles is contested by Ontario-sired two-year-old pacing fillies.
