April Stake Payments Suspended
ELORA, ON — Stake payments have been suspended for the 23rd annual Battle Of Waterloo and 12th annual Battle Of The Belles, which are slated to be raced during the track’s 30th annual Industry Day Celebration, on Monday, August 3 at 12:30 p.m.
Due to the suspension of live racing caused by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, Woodbine Entertainment (administrator of Grand River Raceway’s stake races) has made the decision to suspend the upcoming April 15, 2020 Standardbred stakes payments.
“It’s important for us to recognize the challenges facing everyone in the horse business at this time, and we want to help where we can,” said Jim Lawson, CEO of Woodbine Entertainment. “We want to thank all of the owners that have staked their horses for 2020.”
Woodbine will reevaluate all stakes purses and sustaining payments in May.
