Costume Contest This Friday at Grand River Raceway

ELORA, ON — Grand River Raceway’s popular Horse Name Costume Game returns Friday, August 19, offering $500 in cash prizes.

Fans dress in the likeness of the name of a horse racing on the August 19 race card. With 95 horses to choose from, there’s plenty of opportunity for great names and costumes, including: Nashville, Olympic Star, Sports Fever, Hillbilly King, Putt Putt, Coal Black Shadow, Rockstar Drums, AcefourtyfourXman, Royal King, Federal Army, Tymal Wizard, Southwind Jagger, Shes Deadly and Miss Dragonfire, to name a few.

To finesse their creative inspiration, fans are encouraged to research unique entries from past Horse Name Costume Game contests by consulting the following photo galleries: Gallery 1, Gallery 2, Gallery 3, Gallery 4, Gallery 5, Gallery 6.

Contestants must register at the Costume Table in the main lobby between 6:00pm – 7:00pm. The costume parade will take place live on the Tarmac Show after race six (approximately 8:30) where three judges will determine the best Horse Name Costumes for both adults and kids (15 and under). Costumes are judged based on creativity, effort and presentation.

Post time for race one is 6:35 p.m.
